STILL SHE LEADS

Learning to Lead: Insights, Inspiration, and Growth for Aspiring and Experienced Leaders

About

Thank you for visiting my blog. I am currently a leader at an organization with approximately 40,000 employees. No, I am not THE leader of all those employees. I lead a team of eight. I have a few degrees and some impressive work experience but that is not what is important to this blog. My experiences as a leader, especially as a female leader, are similar across the board. They are stories shared repeatedly amongst leaders through sobs in bathroom stalls, tales over adult beverages, and cupcake-to-mouth cram celebrations amongst small teams in closet-sized conference rooms. These life events make up the good, bad, ugly, and all the little lessons we all learn along the way about how best to lead and how we want to be led. I deem these events as life events because they are what make us feel accomplished, make us laugh, form friendships, make us feel like failures, and motivate us to succeed. Leadership, I’ve learned thus far, is something you have to love. All of it. The tears, the anger, the personal and personnel issues, the self-reflection and hard truths, the setbacks, and the shared successes. These life events become memories that add to who we are. Thank you for taking this journey with me. I look forward to leading with you.
